Aged 99, British Army Veteran Captain Tom Moore decided to walk 100 lengths of his garden.
Captain Moore: "I'm Captain Moore. I'm walking for the NHS."
He wanted to raise money for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. Captain Tom’s children sponsored him £1 per length but news of his walk went viral.
On 30th April, Captain Tom celebrated his 100th birthday. By that time he had raised more than £30 million.
To mark this amazing achievement the British Army promoted him from Captain to honorary Colonel.
As well as sponsoring him the public have also sent him over 125,000 birthday cards. There were so many cards that they were collected at a local school.
