Lucky fish take a walk - 15th July 2022 View All
Jerry Huang makes interesting objects in Taichung, Taiwan. He's an inventor. This is a moving fish tank to transport fish around.
Huang had seen dog, cat and other animal owners walk their pets. He wanted to let fish explore other places as well.
Jerry Huang: "As a creator and inventor, I feel many things are possible. We all have this urge to explore other uninhabitable exotic worlds. That's why we send spaceships to the universe. If I were a goldfish, I would definitely be super thrilled if someone invented something for me to go and explore other worlds."
It took Huang weeks to study about fish and plan possible options. Then the idea of a fish walker came to him. He designed and built it from unwanted objects which he found.
Jerry Huang: "I did a lot of research before I started making this fish tank. It's not a spur of the moment thing. You need to understand the fish. There's a reason why I chose goldfish."
Huang picked goldfish, in particular, because they're a strong type of fish. Then he began to create the tank, which cost between $300 and $400 to build. It's got a large plastic holder full of water, which the fish look out from. The oxygen and cleaning equipment's underneath.
To Huang's surprise, his tank's received a lot of attention.
Jerry Huang: "I was thinking not only will this be a novel way to attract people's attention, but the children will also learn a few things about aquariums."
The fish seem happy. And both children and adults enjoy seeing the strange tank as it's pushed carefully around the city.
Lily Lee: "I have never seen this before. It's novel and strange and quite creative!"
From their unusual tank, this small group of fish has a completely different view of the world! View Less
