Although sometimes caused by lightning, bushfires are in most part due to man-made events such as campfires, cigarettes, sparks from machinery, overhead power lines and controlled burning on agricultural land.
Climate change has also reportedly been a contributing factor, intensifying the ferocity of the fires. Several years of hotter and drier conditions accompanied by record low rainfall, combined with unusually strong winds, has allowed the fires to spread rapidly.
One of the many crews, mainly made up of volunteers, who are putting their lives on the line daily to help fight the fires, filmed this footage. Incredibly, the crew all escaped without injury. View Less
