Mawsynram is a village in India. It is in Meghalaya state. This is in Northeast India. Mawsynram has the world record for rain. It gets 12 metres of rain every year.
Mawsynram gets a lot of rain. But the village doesn’t have enough water.
The weather is now strange. Sometimes there is too much rain. Sometimes the same area has no water.
Iaraphunlin Diengdoh works for the local state government: "Whatever rainfall that we receive throughout the year, but then it just flows off. We cannot tap them. We cannot even harness those waters. We don't have that proper system of harnessing the rain."
They are trying to stop the problems. Villagers save water. The government wants local people to help. It wants them to make water reservoirs. This helps people look after water.
But people cut down lots of trees. The result is lots of climate change problems. There’s not enough monsoon rain. The sun is very hot.
