Ten years of a royal marriage - 10th May 2021
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have marked their ten year wedding anniversary with a series of photos taken at Kensington Palace.
Snapped by celebrity photographer Chris Floyd, Prince William and Kate can be seen beaming at the camera. The portraits appeared on the royal family's social media accounts captioned: "Wishing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge a very happy wedding anniversary." A celebratory message featuring a party popper emoji was also posted to the official Twitter account of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Having got to know each other at university, Prince William wed Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in London after eight years of dating. Prince George, the couple's first child, was born two years later and he's since been followed by Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
William and Kate are known for their global charity work, but coronavirus restrictions have seen them focus their altruism on the UK. During lockdown, the Duke and Duchess have participated in video calls with the children of key workers and become joint patrons of NHS Charities Together. William's first royal visit of the pandemic was to give thanks to frontline ambulance workers and as a family, the couple and their children sent their homemade cupcakes to a local care home.
Tragedy struck the royals in April this year with the death of William's grandfather and Queen's consort Prince Philip. The Duke of Cambridge celebrated his grandfather as a man defined by his service to his country. William has vowed to follow in Prince Philip's footsteps.
"I will miss my grandpa," he said, "but I know he would want us to get on with the job."
