Paris fashion shows sprayed dress - 24th October 2022
One dress at Paris Fashion Week caught people's attention. It was a very unusual dress which changed as the audience watched. It was designed by the company Coperni.
The model Bella Hadid appeared on stage without a dress. She left in a dress which was sprayed onto her, like white paint.
When Hadid first came onto the stage, three designers were waiting. They used spray from their bottles to cover her skin. The liquid dried quickly and turned into real fabric. You could then touch it and even cut it. After 15 minutes, Hadid walked in front of the happy crowds in her new dress.
Later the event was watched by thousands of people online.
When the show had finished, Coperni's fashion designers Meyer and Vaillant spoke to reporters. They said the design joined fashion and technology.
The spray fabric is called Fabrican and it's the idea of Dr Manel Torres. It was created around 20 years ago. It was originally made for doctors to use, for example when repairing damaged bones. Fabrican's also used in car factories and it can help with dangerous oil spills in the sea too.
Fabrican can feel like different types of fabric – soft or hard, thin or thick. It can be made into any kind of clothes. Coperni and Fabrican believe this could be the start of something big for fashion.
