Robots will help farmers - 26th October 2020
Alphabet, the company which owns Google, has made a new robot. The robots can check plants in a field. This will help farmers to improve their crops.
The robots move on tall legs with wheels. They can travel over the crops without damaging them. They can collect lots of information about how crops grow.
The robots are part of Alphabet's Project Mineral. Project Mineral hopes to change the world with its new ideas. Elliot Grant is the project leader. He believes the robots will change the way farmers grow food.
Currently, farmers know about the weather and the soil. But these new robots can check how plants are actually growing.
The robots can be different sizes for different crops. They can record a lot of different things about the plants.
Mineral is already working with farmers in Argentina, Canada, South Africa and the US. Project Mineral hopes other countries will start using the robots soon.
