Ivory Coast high school rule - 17th October 2022
The Ivory Coast made a rule for high school students. Students must have high grades to stay in school. Students with low grades cannot return to high school. The government thinks this rule will make students work hard.
Many students like this rule. They say their classes have too many students. The rule will help with this problem.
But some students disagree with the rule. They think that teachers will have too much power.
Some parents agree with the rule. They're happy that classes won't be too big and noisy. They think that the teachers will have more time for students.
Other parents say the rule is too strict. They want to know what will happen to the students with low grades. The government promised they won't forget those students. They can study a trade, like an electrician.
But this isn't the only problem. There aren't enough teachers in the country. This is making classrooms crowded with 60 to 70 students.
