Eleven cleaners in India won the lottery. These women won $1.2 million. They paid for one lottery ticket together.
Each cleaner earns $3 a day. This isn't enough money. They can't pay school fees for their children. They can't pay for doctors. The women have to borrow money. They have lots of debts. But they can't pay this money back.
The lottery ticket cost $3. It was too expensive for the women. They put their money together. They bought one ticket. They got lucky.
Each of the women will receive $80,000 after taxes. They're going to spend the money on different things.
Leela's daughter fell off a train a month ago. The money will pay for her hospital treatment. Some women will spend the money on their homes. Some will pay off their debts.
After this, there won't be a lot of money left. But the women want to stay together as friends. They're going to continue working as cleaners.
