Google bosses leave work - 8th December 2019
Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google. Now they are leaving their jobs. They want to be like 'parents' instead. They now want to watch the company grow and give it 'advice and love'.
Page and Brin started Google in California in 1998. They are 46 years old. They were the Chief Executive Officer and President of Alphabet. Alphabet is Google's parent company. They say the business doesn't need them. Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO is now CEO of Alphabet too.
Google is very successful. The Google search engine makes it easy to search the internet. The company tries to find new products. They make useful technology.
The name 'Google' comes from 'googol', a very big number (1 plus 100 zeros). Someone spelled the word wrong. But Page liked the mistake. Both Page and Brin liked new ideas. This helped Google be successful.
They made Chrome, the web browser. They bought Android and developed it. They also bought YouTube. They sell advertising to get more money which helps pay for new projects.
