Hindu festival for Ganesha - B2

Last week saw the end of the 11-day festival honouring the Hindu elephant god Ganesha.

In Mumbai, India, where the festival is the biggest, Hindu worshippers thronged the streets with thousands of Ganesha images and effigies. They carried them to the Arabian Sea or to artificial ponds to immerse them in the water to say farewell to the god.

It's an important festival for all Hindus to worship and pray for good health and prosperity.

Man 1: "People come together, worship and they pray for their prosperity and good health for the year to come."

It is a colourful end to these annual celebrations.
