Black Panther star dies after cancer battle - C1

Boundary-Breaking Boseman dies - 9th September 2020

"Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman has lost his battle with colon cancer, taking millions of film fanatics around the world by surprise.

Boseman never went public about his condition, and instead continued to star in movies, filmed between surgeries and during chemotherapy.

Boseman's show reel boasts many incredible performances including films such as "42" and "Get On Up", in which he portrayed baseball star Jackie Robinson and ‘Godfather of Soul’ James Brown respectively.

However, it's Boseman's performance in blockbuster "Black Panther" that will see his name endure.

With its boundary-breaking, all black cast, Boseman felt "Black Panther" was emblematic of the winds of change blowing through Hollywood.

Boseman: "You can see, in the industry, that people are starting to want to put their dollars, put their money where their mouth is, behind films where we are the leads, or we are the directors and producers and what not. So I think that is a change. But it's not just 'Black Panther'. 'Black Panther' was just the culminating moment."
