Thai plane cafés take off - B1

Travellers stop for coffee - 25th September 2020

Millions of people can’t travel because of the pandemic. In Thailand, if you miss flying, you can now visit a “plane café” and pretend.

One “plane café” has landed in the resort city of Pattaya. Customers show their boarding pass and step onto the aircraft.

Inside, they enjoy a coffee in first class. Visitors have selfies with pretend luggage. They can also take over the controls.

Thai Airways is also running a “plane café” with a menu of airline dishes. The food arrives on plastic trays. It is served at your table by cabin crew.

When Covid-19 started, Thailand quickly stopped people entering the country. Few people have caught the virus or died. The government is hoping travel can restart to other countries with low Covid rates.

Until then, book your seat on the plane café!
