The internet game Wordle has become very popular. Now, the Wordle code can be copied. That means people can create their own game for free.

Wordle isn't an app. It's on the web, it costs nothing and the rules are simple. Every 24 hours, there's a five letter word to guess.

Players have six attempts to type in the hidden word. After each try, gold letters mean they're in the secret word, but not the correct position. Green letters show that it's the right letter in the right place.

Wordle has grown very quickly. The game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle, who was looking for a word puzzle to play with his partner in the pandemic.

The website only had 5,000 visits in October 2021. By the end of January 2022, there were 45 million per month. The New York Times newspaper has just bought Wordle for over $1 million.

Some Wordle users worry that they'll have to pay. But the Wordle code is available to copy, if you know how. There are clear instructions online. Then you can carry on playing the puzzle for seven more years.
