French bees bounce back - B2

French Honey Bumper Harvest - 17th June 2020

French beekeepers have been enjoying a successful start to the honey season.

In northern regions of France, a bumper harvest of honey has exceeded expectations, aided by lengthy spells of warm weather and reduced pollution.

Thanks to these high temperatures during the spring months, beekeepers have gathered more honey this year than any other in the past forty years.

Unfortunately, beekeepers in the south aren’t experiencing such good fortune. A lack of rain has brought drought, resulting in a meagre harvest, and producers warning of their poor prospects for the year.

Beekeepers with plentiful supplies need to consider how to sell their goods as their main marketplaces have been closed due to Covid-19. However, beekeepers are delighted they’ll have ample stocks for when lockdown ends.
