Close call for Norwegian landslide - 12th June 2020
Several homes were plunged into Norway’s icy waters by a potentially devastating landslide.
A chunk of clay measuring half a kilometre by 160 metres was severed in an unprecedented land slump which has entered the local history books as the largest of its kind, according to a Norwegian engineer.
Jan Bakkeby had just finished toasting two slices of bread when his property began accelerating, forcing him to flee to higher ground, where he filmed the distressing scene.
A multitude of rescue services were rallied, yet miraculously nobody is thought to have been injured, with only one dog being hoisted out from the water by a helicopter.
Investigations as to the root cause of the landslide are underway.
