Liverpool win Premier League - 1st July 2020

Liverpool have won the UK Premier League. They last won the league 30 years ago.

Happy Liverpool fans celebrated outside Anfield Stadium. They didn't follow social distancing rules.

Fan 1: "Oh my God, I can’t even say how I feel. Amazing, amazing, amazing."

Fan 2: "Amazing, on top of the world fella."

The victory came after Chelsea beat Manchester City. Manchester City were in second place in the league. City played Chelsea on Thursday. Liverpool had beaten Crystal Palace 4-0 at Anfield the day before the Chelsea versus City match. City needed to beat Chelsea. Then, they also needed to win against Liverpool. However, they lost 2-1 to Chelsea, so Liverpool are the winners of the league.

The win has set a new record. There are still 7 games to play in the season.

Liverpool Manager Jürgen Klopp spoke after the match.

Klopp: "It's massive. It's massive. What we love is when you have a successful football club in your city, it always gives the city a lift. And I think at this time all cities in the world can need a lift, Liverpool as well, and I am really happy about that."
