Buddhist beatboxing - 14th August 2020
Yogetou Akasaka is a Buddhist monk from Japan.
Usually, he helps with funerals. But during the Coronavirus lockdown, he wasn’t allowed to work. So he decided to make some music. Akasaka likes beatboxing. He began making music with his mouth 15 years ago. Now, he combines beatboxing with Buddhist songs.
His music is on Youtube and one song has almost a million views.
Akasaka is pleased about his music's popularity.
Akasaka: “I just realised that I can just spread my stuff not only in Japan, but to, like, in the world."
Akasaka came to Buddhism when he was 30 years old. He hopes young people will listen to his music and become interested in Buddhism.
Akasaka: “So, maybe if my music attracts younger people, it will be a good opportunity for them to know about the Buddhism."
