Baby panda twins at Berlin zoo - 18th December 2019
These panda cubs are twin brothers. They were viewed at Berlin zoo for the first time this month. The twins were born on 31st August but were named 100 days later, which is Chinese tradition.
The cubs met the media but zoo visitors can't see them yet. They will be able to visit them when the cubs are older.
Pandas don't have many cubs and twins are very rare. China lends them to other zoos, which try to produce more cubs. Berlin zoo pays $15 million to borrow pandas for 15 years. The cubs, which were born in Berlin, are actually
Chinese. They must return to China in less than 4 years. And so, what are these twin cubs called? They are Meng Xiang, which means 'long awaited dream' and Meng Yuan or 'dream come true'
