Covid protests - 24th November 2021
There's been a rise in numbers of people with Covid-19 in Europe. In some areas, hospitals are full. And the number of deaths has gone up. Governments are making strict rules again.
Austria is in lockdown. People aren't allowed outside. They can only go to work, go shopping or do exercise. The government also said from February 2022, everyone will have to have the Covid-19 vaccine. Some people don't want this. So, they went marching in the streets of Vienna.
Belgium, Croatia and the Netherlands have also returned to strict Covid rules. They are also demanding vaccine passports. Some people went to protest against this. These rules have come after 50 percent more Covid cases in Germany and 67 percent more deaths in Norway.
The director of the World Health Organisation in Europe is Hans Kluge. He said that the low vaccine rate was the problem. He said if people don't have the vaccines, wear masks and use vaccine passports, there'll be 500,000 Covid deaths by 2022.
