Clear winners in UK election - 16th December 2019

On Friday 13th December, Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party won a solid victory in the UK's General Election.

Boris Johnson: "As the nation hands us this historic mandate, we must rise to the challenge and the level of expectations."

The leader of the main opposition Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn said it had been a disastrous night for his party.

Jeremy Corbyn: "This is obviously a very disappointing night for the Labour Party with the result that we've got."

Boris Johnson went to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The Queen asked him to form a new government.

He then returned to the Prime Minister's residence at Number 10 Downing Street to begin work. His first priority will be to carry out his Brexit plan.

Boris Johnson: "And with this mandate and this majority we will at last be able to do what?"

Audience: "Get Brexit done."
