High-flying Indonesian diners - B1+

The flying restaurant - 22nd April 2022

Say hello to Indonesia's flying restaurant which takes you over 50 metres in the air before serving your meal.

The restaurant's called "Lounge In The Sky" and guests, chefs and servers must wear seat belts and safety harnesses.

It seats 32 guests and will cost you from $110 per person. However, the cost isn't just for the food but also the whole experience. Dinda Dimas explains why it's worth the price.

Dinda Dimas: "This is worth such a high price because we can see the scenery and the restaurant rotates while we are eating. The food is also delicious."

However, some guests might be uncomfortable with the height and might lose their appetite once they look down. Yuni talks about her emotions.

Yuni: "At first, it was not easy. I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to swallow the food, let alone drink. But after some time I could eventually eat. It was thrilling!"

The restaurant opened up in the Muslim month of Ramadan when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. However, it's been busy, as people choose to break their fast with a new experience.

Bayu: "It was a bit challenging indeed, but only at the beginning. But because we were up there for an hour, and we were very hungry after fasting, we could eat in the end."

If you’re up for the high life, the company's website has given one piece of advice "Go to the toilet beforehand". If not, everyone will have to be brought back down to earth.
