Britney Spears finally freed - B1+

Justice for Britney - 6th October 2021

Years of conflict between Jamie Spears and his celebrity daughter, Britney Spears has stopped.

A judge in Los Angeles ended Jamie Spears' legal guardianship duties.

Mathew S Rosengart, Britiney's lawyer, announced the news outside the courthouse to her fans.

Mathew S Rosengart: "I'm so pleased and proud to say Jamie Spears is no longer a conservator."

Britney's father has been in charge of her life for the past 13 years. Shortly after Britney had a mental breakdown, the courts made her father her guardian.

As guardian, Mr Spears wasn't just in charge of Britney's business and finances, but all areas of her life. Britney's fans, the B-army, have been upset about the situation. They've been protesting to see her free. They were overjoyed to hear that her father has lost guardianship.

Nefertara Ozella: "My first reaction? I was overjoyed, I was so happy for Britney, this is the beginning for her of getting her life back."

James Edward: "It was just a beautiful feeling to hear that be announced and just - the joy, the relief and just the feeling that came across everyone that's here today. It made it worth coming out for."

People are now questioning guardianship because of two recent documentaries which focus on Mr Spears' abuse of power. Britney's lawyer has also highlighted this and there will be more investigation.

Mathew S Rosengart: "Putting a listening device under Britney Spears' bed in her bedroom, something that's very, very troubling. That's something that it is for law enforcement and not myself to make the ultimate conclusion on."

The public is now aware of guardianship because of what has happened to Britney. Britney's supporters are pushing for justice for those being abused by this system.

Melanie Mandarano: "It's not over even, even when she's free it's not over because B-Army is going to make sure that the 1.5 million people that are in conservatorships are also free. And we're going to amplify the voices of all of the other people who have been exploited and abused in this system."
