Frozen baby mammoth found in Canada - 18th July 2022

Some workers found a baby mammoth in Canada. A woolly mammoth looks like an elephant. This very old animal was frozen in the ice. Scientists think the baby mammoth is 30,000 years old.

Workers were digging up the ground. They found the baby mammoth in the frozen ground.

Local people gave the baby woolly mammoth a name. Its name is 'Nun cho ga'. It means 'big baby animal' in the local Han language.

Grant Zazula's a scientist from Canada. He studies very old bones. He's very happy about the new discovery. He says that Nun cho ga is beautiful. He says it's wonderful to find this animal.

In 2007, scientists found another baby mammoth in Siberia. It was frozen in the ice 47,000 years ago. It's almost the same size as Nun cho ga.

Nun cho ga is very special. Scientists can now learn more about life in Canada 30,000 years ago.
