Cyclone in Bay of Bengal - 1st June 2020

A cyclone is a very big storm. Scientists give each cyclone a name. This week, cyclone Amphan hit the Bay of Bengal.

Cyclone Amphan hit Bangladesh and India on 20th May. There was lots of rain. The cyclone pushed a lot of sea water onto the land.

Governments moved millions of people away from danger. This happened before the storm. But many people didn’t want to leave home. They were afraid. They didn't want to get coronavirus.

The storm damaged many homes. Many villages are under water.

Cyclone Amphan was a big storm. Scientists are worried. Now, there are a lot of storms. This is an effect of climate change.

Sea water is salty. This is a big problem on farm land. There is a lot of other damage too. People are starting to fix the damage. This will take a long time.
