Protests in Russia - 3rd February 2021

These people are on the streets in Russia. They are protesting in over 100 cities. They are unhappy with the government. They want to let Alexei Navalny out of prison.

Alexei Navalny is a Russian politician. He often disagrees with the government. He wants things to be fair for everyone.

In 2020, someone tried to kill Navalny. They used a dangerous chemical. The chemical made Navalny very sick. Some people think the Russian government did this.

Navalny went to hospital in Germany. After a long time, he got better. Then, he went back to Russia. But Russian police took him to prison.

People say this is wrong. They protested on the streets. The police tried to stop the protests. They closed 7 metro stations in Moscow. They took around 5000 protestors to prison. They took away Navalny's wife and brother too.

Navalny is still in prison. He could be in prison for many years.
