Whale sculpture saves train - 16th November 2020

There was an accident in the Netherlands. A train crashed at a station. The train almost fell off the station. But it hit a sculpture. The sculpture stopped the train.

The sculpture is of a whale. Whales are big animals. They live in the sea. But this sculpture is plastic. It is part of the train station.

Maarten Struijs is an artist. He made the whale sculpture in 2002. Mr Struijs was surprised that the sculpture did not break.

The train driver was not hurt. He got off the train. There were no passengers on the train.

Police came to the accident. They need to take the train away. This will be difficult.

No one knows why the train crashed.
