The US Senate wants to keep daylight saving time (DST) all year.

DST changes the time by one hour in the spring and autumn.

In spring, DST moves clocks one hour forward.

This means more daylight in the afternoons.

In the autumn, the clocks go back.

This saves electricity.

But the US Senate decided to change this.

From next year, the US will keep DST all year.

Some people like the idea.

Children will have more time to play outside.

And daylight helps people with depression.

But others disagree with it.

They think it’s bad for schools.

In winter, children will go to school in the dark.

This can be dangerous.

The US Senate vote was very fast.

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi was surprised.

But she wants the new rule too.

Now, the House must agree the rule.

Then, President Joe Biden can sign it.
