Tyrannosaurus rex was a big dinosaur. T. rex was 13 metres long. It was 4 metres tall. But it had small arms.
Now, scientists know why. They studied 85 big dinosaurs. Some of them had small arms.
These dinosaurs had big heads. Their heads were very strong.
These dinosaurs ate big animals. They didn’t kill with their arms. They killed animals with their heads.
They needed big, strong heads. They didn’t need big, strong arms.
So, T. rex had a big head. It killed its food with it.
What were its arms for? Scientists want to know!
