Hunger in Afghanistan - 29th November 2021

In Afghanistan, many people are hungry. The World Food Programme is very worried. They say 3.2 million children don't have enough food. So, they are getting sick. And 22.8 million people can't get enough good food to be healthy.

There is a very bad drought in Afghanistan. It isn't raining. Farmers can't grow enough food. And the price of food is going up.

David Beasley is the director of the World Food Programme. He's worried for the Afghan people. And says they are in a very bad situation: "The next 6 months are going to be... hell on Earth."

The Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August. They stopped girls from going to school. So now, western countries won't help them.

Winter is coming soon. David Beasley is angry. " We let any child die from hunger. Shame on us."
