Seesaws win prize - 1st February 2021

Seesaws are big toys for children. Seesaws are often in parks. They go up and down. Two people can sit on a seesaw.

In 2020, two university teachers made some pink seesaws. They took them to the US-Mexico border. They put the seesaws between the USA and Mexico.

One end of the seesaw was in Mexico. The other end was in the USA. Mexicans and Americans could play together. They were in different countries. But they used the same seesaws.

The pink seesaws won a prize. The name of the prize is the Design of the Year award. The Design Museum in London chose the winner. The winner can be anything. It can be food, clothes, buildings. This year, the Design Museum chose the seesaws.

Tim Marlow is the boss of the London Design Museum. He likes the seesaws. They helped people have fun together.
