There was a big earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

It was very strong.

It was 7.8 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake happened on 6th February at 4.17 am.

Most people were sleeping.

Many buildings fell.

Many people are lost under the buildings.

In Turkey, the government says the buildings weren’t strong.

They are angry with the builders.

People from other countries are going to Turkey.

They're helping to find people under the buildings.

They're using dogs to help look for people.

After a week, some people are still found alive.

This is good news.

But, thousands of people died because of the earthquake.

Sadly, there will be many more.

25 million people live in the earthquake zone.

The situation in Syria is serious.

There is a war there.

After the earthquake people need more help.

Other countries want to help.

But they can't enter Syria.

They need permission from the Syrian government.

This is taking time.
