Fighters choose coffee not guns - 23rd May 2022
There's a new coffee in Colombia. It's special coffee. In the past, the coffee makers were fighters.
There was a long war in Colombia. But it stopped in 2016. Then the fighters started new businesses.
Now, hundreds of fighters are coffee farmers in Colombia. And their coffee is really good.
This year, there's a coffee competition in London. These farmers hope to win a prize. The name of their coffee is 'Fruits of Hope'.
One farmer at the London coffee competition is Mr Pardo. He became a fighter at 18. But he and the other fighters are happy the war ended. They know that people in their country feel the same way.
13,000 fighters now have normal jobs. The men and women produce things like coffee, beer and clothes.
But they want people to know about their old life too. The names of their products show this. 'Fruits of Hope' is one example.
