Two important books are back at Cambridge University Library.

They were missing for 22 years.

The little notebooks belonged to a famous scientist.

His name was Charles Darwin.

Somebody returned the books, but no one knows who.

The leather notebooks are from the 1830s.

Darwin wrote lots of notes and drew pictures in them.

These show the scientist's first ideas about evolution.

The notes were for his famous book 'On the Origin of Species'.

Somebody stole the books from the library.

The library told the police, and the news went across the world.

Who took the books.

And who returned them.

Nobody knows, but somebody came into the library.

They left Darwin's notebooks in a pink bag near the library offices.

This part of the library has no CCTV.

There was a message inside the bag.

It was for Dr Jessica Gardner.

She works in the library.

It said: "Librarian, Happy Easter X."
