Successful Harvest for French Bees - 17th June 2020
It's been an excellent start to the season for beekeepers in France.
Weeks of warm weather and lower levels of pollution have resulted in a great harvest of honey.
In Northern France, as spring temperatures reached 30 degrees and blossom arrived 3 weeks early, beekeepers were able to start collecting the honey. But the weather has not been as favourable all over France. In the South, which has experienced periods of drought, the harvest is poor. Beekeepers there say they need to limit their expectations.
The next challenge for those beekeepers with large amounts of honey is how to sell it. During the Covid-19 lockdown most of their usual methods of distribution have closed down. But they will have good reserves once the markets open up again.
