People usually think football’s a safe sport.

But it can be dangerous too.

Using your head to play - "heading" - is a problem.

Old football players often have brain problems.

Some footballers can die from brain illnesses.

It’s not because of accidents in the game.

It's about using your head.

Last year, the Football Association decided to help.

It stopped adult footballers using their heads in training.

Players couldn’t head the ball more than 10 times a week.

But what about children.

Millions of children play football in England.

So, from September, some football clubs and schools are trying new rules.

They’re for children under 12.

Young footballers won’t be able to head the ball.

And it’ll soon be the same in all matches.

In the future, football might look different.

But this change might stop damage to players’ brains.
