Violinist plays during brain surgery - 28th February 2020
A violinist has assisted surgeons removing a tumour by playing her instrument to avoid them accidentally damaging her brain.
Musician Dagmar Turner lives in England and was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2013.
The tumour sat close to the part of the brain that controls the tiny hand movements required in playing the violin.
Her surgeon came up with the idea of waking her up mid-way through surgery to check her coordination was not affected.
Leaving hospital just three days after surgery proved its success.
