What is COP26? - 1st November 2021

The world is meeting for COP26. Many world leaders are meeting to talk about climate change. They want to put less carbon dioxide (CO2) in the air. They are trying to slow down global warming.

The meeting happens every year. But in 2020, there was no meeting because of Covid-19.

In 2021, the meeting is in Glasgow, Scotland. And 25,000 people plan to be there.

200 countries are going to the meeting. They are discussing their plans to slow down global warming.

Thousands of businesses, climate experts and campaigners are going to be there too. They're having meetings and discussions.

At the end of the event, each country should sign an agreement. They should agree ways to slow down global warming.

This could change our lives. It could change the type of cars we drive and the way we heat our homes.
