Scientists have found a way to make energy from plants.
The scientists say they have, for the first time, produced hydrogen from plants. This could result in developing a way to produce electricity from plants.
The research was carried out at Tel Aviv University in Israel and involved using minute algae. Iflach Yacoby is head of the University’s Renewable Energy Laboratory. He believes that this is the start of a new era for agriculture.
Plants could become more than a source of food and provide some of our daily energy, chemical, heavy industry and non-food needs. However, this groundbreaking scientific development could take up to 20 years to bring the wider world its practical benefits.
